These terms cover joining Exeter Formula Student (XRacing or XElectric) and using this website. By submitting the join form, you agree to them.

Eligibility

Membership is open to current University of Exeter students with a valid @exeter.ac.uk email address. We check this automatically on the join form.

Membership and fees

Membership runs for one season and covers one team only — XRacing (combustion) or XElectric (electric), not both. Season fees are set per team and shown on the join page at the time you apply; they may change between seasons.

Membership is purchased through the University of Exeter Student Guild. The Guild handles payment. After purchasing, you upload proof of your Guild membership through the join form. A committee member checks this and approves or rejects your application — your membership with us is not confirmed until it's approved.

Switching teams

You can switch from one team to the other within 28 days of submitting your application, free of the admin hassle of reapplying — just contact us. XRacing and XElectric currently cost the same, so switching doesn't involve any extra purchase; if the two teams' fees ever differ in a future season, switching means separately purchasing the new team's membership through the Guild — we don't process refunds or top-ups ourselves (see our Refund Policy). After the 28-day window, your team is fixed for the season.

Using this website

Please use the join form honestly — don't submit false payment proof or apply on someone else's behalf without their knowledge. We may reject applications or remove members for misuse of the site, non-payment, or serious breaches of these terms or of Guild/university policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms between seasons — for example, if fees change. The current version always applies to new applications; we'll flag any change that materially affects existing members.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
